COVID 19 – Preparing to return to Normal Flying Operations for General Aviation.

We have in line with the government guidance and the CAA prepared a plan to return to flying and re-open Bristol & Wessex Aeroplane Club from Thursday 9th July 2020.

We do not intend to print every word in the attached document, but I would strongly recommend you visit the following sites to ensure you are fit and safe to commence flying.

We do have several topics which I would like to cover off now.

Flying Instructors and a number support staff have been formally informed of the risk, and actions required to combat any risks, for both the short and long term. Anyone member of staff deemed vulnerable should continue to follow the government advice.

CLUB BUILDING

We are looking to reopen the building, but please check with our website for opening hours. Opening will be in line with good weather days and totally based on ours and all customers’ safety.

The Flight lounge customer numbers will have to be reduced in line with social distancing. We cannot allow gatherings at reception or at the bar area.

All visitors should enter by the reception and provide your name and a contact number, and exit through the flight lounge on leaving.

Please use the cleaning materials we have provided and wash or sanitise your hands every time.

STUDENTS

Students who have confirmed lessons should look to meet their instructor 15 minutes prior to the agreed time before designated flight time.

Most pilots have not flown for some time, so in line with the CAA guidance an extensive debrief will be required depending on your situation. Please confirm any additional training charges with your Instructor.

For students, we will have available masks and cleaning materials to ensure all surfaces in every Aircraft will be thoroughly cleaned before and after flight.

Simply remember, The Owner and Head of Training need to consider our Instructors, Club members, and all students’ well being.

Please ensure all Aircraft documents are valid and in date.

  1. Airworthiness
  2. Insurance
  3. Radio Licence
  4. Fire extinguisher and first aid kit
