Students from Sidcot School near Bristol Airport will be taking the controls of a Piper PA28 aircraft for trial lessons at Bristol and Wessex Aeroplane Club once again this summer. This is the second year Bristol and Wessex have hosted the Sidcot School Flying Academy which offers each pupil the opportunity to live adventurously.
During Summer 2017 45 flights were successfully completed each lasting 30 minutes in our fleet of Piper PA28 aircraft and the flying academy was deemed very successful. This summer we will welcome 15 more students who will take part in the flying academy for another Summer of flying.
The ethos of the school is to live adventurously, this is achieved by students taking part in activities like the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme, various Extra Curricular activities and the Flying Academy which adds to that ethos nicely.
Last summer one of the students from Sidcot School caught the flying bug and is now working towards his private pilot’s licence. We wish all the students great success and look forward to welcoming them to Bristol and Wessex Aeroplane Club.
