Sunday 27th November 2016: As part of a budding new relationship between Bristol & Wessex Aeroplane Club and Sidcot School, two sixth form students took to the skies in G-GFCB, one of our PA28 aircraft. This trial flight saw them both take the controls, fly out over the M5 Avon Bridge, down the River Severn estuary and then inland for a circuit overhead the school’s base near Winscombe before returning to Bristol’s 09 runway for landing. Both students had expressed a career interest in aviation and this trial flight is the start of a life journey for them both.
Sidcot School encourages their students to “Live Adventurously” and what better way than to start off an aviation career than with Bristol and Wessex Aeroplane Club. It is planned that more senior school students will be breaking earth’s surely bonds with Bristol & Wessex over the coming months and years for trial lessons, first solo training and the full PPL!
