IMPORTANT MESSAGE regarding the ongoing situation with Covid-19

May 28th, 2020 Posted by Bristol & Wessex Aeroplane Club

UPDATE 6th July 2020:

We have a major update that supersedes this article, please read the full update at https://www.bristolandwessex.co.uk/we-are-re-opening-from-9th-july-2020/

UPDATE 28th May 2020:

I do hope you are all well and looking forward to normal times returning soon. Although from what we see it will take sometime.

Whilst the government is advising some industries to return to work, this should only be done where social distancing, working outdoors or your safety can be guaranteed. It is impossible to maintain social distancing whilst learning to fly in a small light aircraft and difficult to put safety measures in place to ensure the safety of both the instructor and student, therefore, the club will remain closed until May 31st.

Subject to weather we will recommence solo flying June 4th, we will be able to allow our aircraft to be used for self-fly hire for our club members only. This with social distances on advice from the CAA and government will work to get things moving.

If you are keen to fly, can I ask you to contact us on the main Bristol & Wessex phone number for availability and confirmation.

All aircraft have been flown during the lock down period under the engineering approval to fly by the CAA guidance. Although licences and medicals have been extended in line with the CAA authority.

We will follow guidance from the CAA to ensure the aircraft are cleaned and ready to fly subject to the A check.

And we will also hold a longer pre flight briefing to remind all of you the safety of flying and ensure your plans for the flight work, and of course we will always remain a safe distance.

We hope this will be the first step back to GA activity, if you have any questions please call the main Ops line number and we look forward to seeing you soon.

HAPPY FLYING

BW TEAM

UPDATE 22nd April 2020:

Following the recent government extension to the lockdown we have extended our current closure of the club until Friday 15th May. The situation will of course be reviewed following guidance near or after that date.

UPDATE 30th March 2020:

Along with the rest of the UK, we have been closely monitoring the continually evolving situation regarding Covid-19. The wellbeing of our teams and you, our customers, has been our highest priority. Therefore, following the latest Government advice, we have decided to close the flying club to all staff, students and visitors. This means that our trial lessons, flight simulator, flying lessons and the Flight Lounge Cafe are now closed until April 26th. We will continually review the situation and follow government advice so please visit the web site periodically for our latest information.

Vouchers, Bristol and Wessex vouchers will be extended for three months. For other vouchers, please contact your voucher supplier.

We hope you understand this is a difficult time for all of us and we look forward to seeing you all when we reopen. Stay safe and take care.

UPDATE 20th March 2020:

Due to the recent news and updates about the Coronavirus outbreak we have decided to close the flying club to all staff, students and visitors. This means that our trial lessons, flight simulator, flying lessons and the flight lounge cafe are now closed until at least the end of March.

We hope you understand this is a difficult time for all of us and we look forward to seeing you all when we reopen. Stay safe and take care.

UPDATE 19th March 2020:

Because of the current situation we are having to manage our flying Activity to meet the COVID-19 threat.

If you wish to make contact with your instructor and formulate a plan, they will be happy to assist.

This is of course subject to ensuring you and your instructor are fit to fly.

The operations team will be reduced in line with the demand and the closure of the Club/ Flight lounge Café.

Therefore, before setting out to visit the club please make contact first with us via telephone on 01275 475429 or email us to make sure we are open.

On bad weather days the building will be closed.

We will of course keep you up to date on any changes as they happen.
