We are pleased to announce that student pilots can now take the Flight Radiotelephony Operator’s Licence (FRTOL) exam with Bristol & Wessex Aeroplane Club with our inhouse examiner, Troy Williams.
The FRTOL is a requirement for pilots to operate the radio equipment in aircraft, the FRTOL practical exam consists of a simulated flight with our inhouse FRTOL examiner. During the exam students will be required to make all the required radio calls for a typical VFR cross-country flight, including radio calls for a number of simulated emergencies.
Training and gap analysis will be required to complete the SRG1171 form ahead of the FRTOL Practical Test. The FRTOL is endorsed on your flight crew licence and is usually applied for at the same time. Once issued the licence is valid for life.
