On Saturday 24th March 2018 young visitors and their families visited Bristol & Wessex Aeroplane Club for an exciting and action-packed day with Airbus, Bristol Airport and Fly2Help. More than 15 children from the Rainbow Centre and their excited families were invited to experience an aviation themed day.
During the day the young people, some of whom had never been on board an aircraft before were able to explore light aircraft, jet aircraft and sit at the controls in the flight deck of an aircraft with expert instruction from pilots.
Also available on the day were the Bristol Airport police team who put on various interesting demonstrations, as well as some of the airside operations team meeting the young visitors to this special day.
The event is sponsored by Airbus who ran interesting experiments to teach the young visitors about aerodynamics and the effects of flight, resulting in a paper aeroplane competition and experimenting with virtual reality lenses.
The day was a great success and is designed to offer the young people from the centre a memorable day that will entertain and inspire in the aviation industry, as a flying club we are proud to be a part of this special and memorable day.
