Today we welcomed Travis Ludlow to Bristol & Wessex Aeroplane club, Travis famously became the youngest person to fly around the world solo in a Cessna 172 light aircraft at age 18 years and 150 days old.
Travis, at the time of flying solo around the world, was an 18 year old schoolboy who has been flying since he was 12. He became the UK’s youngest glider pilot at 14 and the youngest certified PPL pilot at 17. His dream, since the age of 10, was to become the youngest pilot to fly around the world solo, and he has never let go of that dream.
Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 pandemic the plans for the around the world flight were delayed, but this only motivated Travis more and allowed him to get many more hours and much more, valuable, flying experience.
Travis visited us to renew his FAA Instrument Rating in our Redbird Flight Simulator, one of very few flight simulators in the UK and in fact the world. It was great to welcome and meet Travis today and we look forward to welcoming him back.
