Due to Covid-19 tier restrictions and the safety of our instructors and members we have sadly decided to cancel this event, we hope to re-schedule next year when conditions allow. If you have made a donation it will be refunded to you.
We are pleased to announce that pilots from Bristol & Wessex Aeroplane Club will be flying around the entire United Kingdom in 24 hours in aid of Bristol based charity “Above and Beyond”. Donations to this very worthy cause are being taken on our dedicated JustGiving page setup for this charity event.
The simulated flight will be conducted in our Redbird Flight Simulator covering 19 sectors lasting just over an hour each, starting from Bristol Airport and flying anti-clockwise around the entire UK.
We have chosen to use the Simulator so that we can avoid delays and or cancellations due to weather at this time of year, the simulated flight will travel to the following destinations where it will land, and the next pilot will take over and fly the next sector:
- Isle of Man
Above and Beyond are a Bristol based charity fundraising for Bristol city centre hospitals, patient care and staff development are funded through fundraising, like our event.
The idea was put together by the club to do something positive and nice for charity after what has been a difficult year so far due to the pandemic. The flight is due to start on Wednesday 16th December at 12pm and finish on Thursday 17th December at 12pm, with continuous flying (apart from landing to refuel and refreshment breaks to keep things realistic) the flight will cover over 1600 miles crossing parts of the North Sea and Irish Sea on its routing.
We are asking for you to donate to this charity so we can present Above and Beyond with a cheque in the run up to Christmas, to donate simply visit our JustGiving page which can be found at: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/bristol-wessex
