You have your PPL...What comes next?

Gaining your PPL is one of the most rewarding challenges that you may undertake, but that is only where the fun starts! Why not add ratings to your licence? Not only will this enhance your flying abilities but also will allow you to be more adventurous and confident.

Type Conversion

Once you have gained your wings and your PPL is issued, you can convert to other aircraft within the fleet like the 4 seat Piper Warrior / Archer to take friends and family flying. Type conversion will take between 2 to 4 hours.

Advanced Radio Navigation Course

This course takes the art of navigation using radio beacons to a higher level, and makes a very useful and adaptable tool. Subjects covered include VOR, DME, ADF and GPS. A must for anyone who obtained a PPL before JAR. Please give us a ring or pop in for further details.

The IMC Rating

The Instrument Meteorological Conditions Rating (only valid in the UK ), enables you to fly in weather conditions considerably worse than those allowed with a basic PPL. To add this rating to your licence you need to complete:

15 hours dual instrument flying, interspersed with some visual

One Ground Examination

One Flight Test

The Night Qualification

Night flying can be a serene and very special experience, and this is one of the easiest ratings to add to your licence. To gain this rating, the following must be completed:

5 hours training, of which 3 hours are dual and 2 hours solo

A solo cross country of 50 nautical miles

5 solo full stop landings

There are no ground or flight tests for the Night Rating
